The architect's brief was three sentences: 'The entrance is 8 meters long, 4 meters wide, with 6 meters of ceiling height. The walls are white limestone. We need one piece that justifies the space.' We spent two weeks selecting the exact block from the Carrara quarry via video call with the quarrymaster. The piece was installed in March 2025.

Aurevo understood immediately that the sculpture wasn't decoration — it was architecture. The piece they created doesn't sit in the space; it completes it.

The hotel's design philosophy is wabi-sabi — beauty in imperfection. Turkish travertine, with its natural pores and warm irregularities, was the only material that fit. The piece is positioned to catch morning light through the garden-facing glass, creating a shadow that shifts throughout the day.

We specified Aurevo because they understood restraint. The piece is powerful without being loud — exactly what a Kyoto space demands.

The collector approached us after seeing THE SILENT MARBLE at an installation in Milan. The brief was unusual: three works that felt related but not matched. We selected stones from the same geological period — all Jurassic-period formations — so they shared a deep history while appearing visually distinct.

Working with Aurevo felt less like commissioning and more like excavating. They found what was already in the stone, and somehow they found exactly what I was looking for — even though I couldn't describe it.

Desert environments are unforgiving to stone. The thermal cycling between air-conditioned interiors and 50°C exterior temperatures can cause micro-fracturing in certain marbles. We selected Sichuan White for its thermal stability and treated the surface with a penetrating sealant developed for exterior architectural applications in the Gulf. The piece was installed in a 12-meter-high lobby.

We evaluated studios from Carrara to Beijing. Aurevo offered the rare combination of European aesthetic sensibility and technical understanding of our climate challenges.
